Schmidt House History Talk: The Evolution of the Northwest Passage as a Cartographic Image: 1753-1853 – 330 Schmidt Place SW Tumwater – December 5, 12-1 pm- Well-known author Dave Nicandri will discuss the many explorers who sought a sea route between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. All their attempts failed, but the resulting knowledge spurred the expansion of the U.S. and Canada. Free – Doors open 11:30am

Discovery Speaker Series – Olympia library 313 8th Ave SE – December 5, 6:30-7:45pm –Join Puget Sound Estuarium at the Olympia Timberland Library for our Discovery Speaker Series. every 1st Thursday of the month. This month’s presenter is Sara Adams, a Program Manager at Quiet Sound, a program of Washington Maritime Blue. Quiet Sound aims to understand and mitigate the acoustic and physical impacts of large commercial vessels on the endangered Southern Resident killer whales.
