Solar Group Purchasing Program Supports 500 Washington customers with Clean, Renewable Energy

Olympia Community Solar has enrolled over 515 Washington homeowners in their fourth annual Solarize campaign, their largest solar energy program to date. The campaign serves residents of Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Island, Whatcom, Skagit, Walla Walla county, and the City of Kenmore residents. Residents of nine counties can reserve their free solar assessment at olysol.org/solarize.

Help with Installing Solar Panels

Installing solar can feel daunting: from perceived costs, to complicated technical details, to choosing a reputable installer. That’s why Olympia Community Solar is offering this solar group purchasing program to support homeowners through the process. Olympia Community Solar’s previous Solarize programs have resulted in over 250 solar installations around the Puget Sound.

Olympia Community Solar and their local NGO partners facilitated a competitive bidding process to secure solar installers. Contractors were vetted for equipment quality, business practices, and special discounted pricing. This year South Sound Solar, Sunpath Electric, and Blossom Solar were selected to serve Thurston, Mason, and Lewis Counties. Also, Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union is offering special Solarize financing for the duration of the campaign. By purchasing solar in bulk and partnering with trusted installers, Solarize is making the process of going solar simple, secure, and accessible.

Solarize Makes the Process Easier

To be part of Solarize, sign up at olysol.org/solarize. A solarize installer will provide a free site assessment of your home or business and provide a detailed solar proposal at the campaign’s discounted group rate. If you choose to contract, the solar installer will schedule the date of your solar installation. Solar customers benefit from reduced energy bills thanks to their solar production and net metering. Net metering is an agreement between a customer and their utility that allows them to earn utility bill credits for any extra energy that flows back into the electrical grid. Customers can offset their entire electrical bill with solar, except for their fixed monthly customer charge.

“I was interested in solar for a long time but was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of information online. I honestly may not have made the switch to solar if I had not discovered this program. This streamlined everything and I felt like I was in good hands.”- Solarize participant
