We appreciate your support! While WIP depends on volunteers, there are some essential expenses that we must pay with funds from advertisers, subscribers and donors.

Our expenses. To pay printing and production costs for 3000 copies of the paper at 16 pages, we need to raise about $450 each month beyond the revenue we receive from our advertiser/supporters. For the past year of rolling COVID shutdowns, our advertising dollars have been significantly lower. For the second quarter of the year, we didn’t charge downtown businesses who had had to close their doors; while others opted for smaller ads. We are more than ever depending on contributions from readers.
Last year’s contributions. For 2020, subscriptions netted about $700 and donations about $800. We haven’t had the capacity to do a “donation drive” so this was all self-initiated by supporters old and new. A continuing grant from the Workers’ Defense Fund saved us by covering some of our monthly shortfall in 2020-21.
Volunteer contributions make WIP possible. Nearly everyone involved in producing and distributing WIP volunteers their time, skills and networks to create a quality paper that provides the community with news and views not available otherwise. Those same volunteers contribute to our financial viability by covering their own expenses for everything from gas for distributing the paper to a host of miscellaneous charges.
If you can’t volunteer, please donate!
