Olympia Indivisible (OI) is a non-partisan group with a 100% volunteer base of grass roots activists who are defending our Constitution and democratic checks and balances. It has been active since the first Trump administration advocating for progressive causes. On Election Day 2024, it had 736 members. Now, there are 1195 members taking action to resist the authoritarian power grab and decimation of our civic life.
OI is launching eight new teams to respond to events at every level of government.
They are the:
- Rapid Response Federal Watchdog Team
- State Executive Office Team
- County, Local Jurisdiction, and School Board Team
- Civil Rights Team
- Immigrant Justice Team
- Social Safety Net Team
- Women’s and Reproductive Rights Team
- Union and Workers Justice Team
Over 115 OI members have signed up to join one of these teams since the beginning of February. All the teams have two co-leads, clear mandates, and have met or will have met by the first week of March.
Since the election, OI has also organized for:
- an in-person MLK Day event with guest speakers immigrant expert Steffani Powell and civil rights leader Dr. Thelma Jackson (Jan. 20, 2025);
- gathering and delivery of two carloads of winter clothing, food, and hygiene supply donations from our members to Sergio’s Place, which offers a warm and welcoming daytime space for anyone in need, particularly those who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness (January 21, 2025);
- presentations about resources for resilience and civic engagement for the Dems of Jubilee (Jan. 18) and the Mason County Democrats (Feb. 1);
- organizing a Feb. 19 rally by 115 Olympia Indivisible members at the Lacey office of Rep. Marilyn Strickland to express our alarm about the unfolding Constitutional crisis and to deliver a letter urging her to respond with courageous and unflinching leadership.
