Large demonstrations at airports against Trump’s Executive Order

In an immediate and fierce response to President Trump’s executive order refusing to admit people from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and Libya, over three thousand people demonstrated at SeaTac airport on January 29 and January 30, 2017, as did tens of thousands of people at airports across the U.S.

Governor Jay Inslee condemned the order as unjustifiable cruelty. Port of Seattle Commissioners, who have jurisdiction over SeaTac airport issued the following statement: “The Port of Seattle Commissioners, Tom Albro, Courtney Gregoire, Stephanie Bowman, Fred Felleman and John Creighton are here today to express our concerns over the immigration ban executive order that was issued late last night. As the government that operates this airport, this executive order runs counter to our values. America is great because we are a land of immigrants and that is what made us great to begin with.”
