Orca Recovery Day –Squaxin Park – October 19, 10am-2pm-Join Thurston Conservation District & City of Olympia to restore forested habitats by planting Pacific Northwest trees and shrubs. The day will also include a guided shore walk, refreshments, and a chance to learn about other organizations helping to better our orcas.

Saturday Passport Fair – Thurston County Atrium Building, 3000 Pacific Ave SE – October 19 from 9am-12pm In addition to passport application services, the Auditors office also provides photo services for constituents in need of a new passport photo. Thurston County staff are trained to ensure that photos meet the strict requirements set by the State Department for passport submissions, whether for renewals or new applications. After May 7, 2025, passengers on domestic flights will be required to have a passport or enhanced driver’s license to fly. Volunteer Work Party – Tree Protectors for baby Cedars at Cooper Crest – Cooper Crest Preserve – 2922 20 Ave NW – October 26-10am-2pm – Join us to upgrade the tree protectors for our baby cedars. Planted in 2022, these cedars need larger cages to keep them safe from pesky deer. Its the first work party for this large project of giving new cages to over 1,000 cedars! Bring work gloves, pliers, and sledgehammers if you have them. Park along the street or at Marshall Middle School. See you there!
